Zirconium acetate (CAS No. 7585-20-8) is a zirconium-based compound typically supplied as a clear, colorless liquid. It is produced through the reaction of zirconium oxychloride with sodium carbonate and contains a certain amount of free acetic acid. The product generally has a density of 1.29–1.32 and a pH value of approximately 3.5.
Due to its acidic properties and active zirconium content, zirconium acetate exhibits excellent chemical reactivity and functional performance. It is readily soluble in water and can be effectively used in aqueous formulations; however, it may undergo decomposition under boiling conditions.
